Our Community Cultural Events and Gatherings

We coordinate a series of Culture Exchange events and programs to foster social cohesion, security and respect among both new Mainer communities and Portland’s broader community and transform our differences into opportunities to learn from one another and celebrate life.

Each month , Hosted by our Ambassadors ​,we come together over a local drink  ( Coffee, Tea, Kombucha, etc)

The location is chosen by our host ,it’s a great place to catch up with friends and neighbors every month, to network, and to make new friends! This is where you can find out all you ever wanted to know about Africa,Europe,Asia and living in the US! you will also find out about what’s happening in WRCE , get to know what Our Ambassadors  do and maybe find out something new about the local scene from guest speakers. ​

Each month, Hosted by our Ambassadors ,we come together for food taste.

If you have ever wished to test African, Asian, European or American  food, the WRCE  will provide deep cultural experience by hosting you in our community families  during food test  events that are hosted by our Intercultural Ambassadors where you hear stories of the people ,meet great people ,network and taste food.

Social Evenings Once a month we have Cultural Exchange gatherings ( Music, Exhibition, Movie screening, dance, discussion and storytelling )

Perfect way to meet new people and have some fun , we promote culture and art and celebrate our differences . These evenings are hosted by our Ambassadors or by WRCE ,We gather at a home or  somewhere that can accommodate  cultural activities like Culture acoustic Night , Exhibition, Movie screening, Storytelling, dance, discussions, and games from all parts of the world.

​Our excursions

-Once in three month we go to surprising and interesting places, Our Activities Committee works hard to source a variety of different experiences for us. In this way we get to know the people and the city in which we live, as well as culture and have some real insights into what goes on here in the community. (We go as a group)

 - Once a year we organize a tour to Africa,Europe or Asia to experience and learn more about culture and daily lifestyle ,This is Organized by World Roots Culture Exchange and Our Ambassadors Commitee

Our Intercultural Events

Every year we create a calendar of special events throughout the year to celebrate this many culture of our community . We celebrate Valentine’s day, St Patricks , Easter , Mid-year,Christmas… which are American culture. We also celebrate  special events that are found in our Ambassadors cultures from different part of the world.  This events are always hosted by our Ambassadors .
